Hard to believe that 1 week ago today we were sitting in the PCICU looking at Jaxson, intubated, on a vent with tubes and lines coming out of him. It blows my mind how 1 week later he can look SO good and healthy!!

Todays post is called shits and giggles (smiles) for a good reason. We shall start with the shits (literally)….. Jaxson has now 100% refused the bottle with that disgusting formula he has to eat. The gagging and fussiness has now turned into plain old refusal to even put the nipple in his mouth. So now we are relying on the NG tube for feedings. Not only does he not enjoy this formula, I’m pretty sure his body is staging a full out revolt against it!! 10 minutes into eating and there are rumbles down under!! This kid is DESTROYING his diapers twice a feeding, and he has been throwing up as well. We are told this is normal with this formula, but it’s so hard to watch this little guy in discomfort. We shall see what the nutritionist has to say about it tomorrow. So until then we keep the wipes and rags close by!!

Now for the fun part!! Despite the shits and discomfort he has been all smiles today!

YOUR WELCOME!! It is so refreshing to see this smile back on his face. We know he is content enough despite the discomfort the food is giving him 🙂

The chyle (stuff in his drainage bag) has slowed down a bit, but not enough to make the doctors happy. They are going to reassess tomorrow and maybe come up with a new treatment plan to help heal that duct up.

Right now we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Aunty Sam, we are all so excited to see her!! I have a couple of posts in mind that I will throw in between his daily health updates but I will save those for another day. It’s time to blow this joint and go see the sights of the U of A hospital.
